Anne Wellman has written four biographies of beloved female authors of the mid twentieth century. She was born Anne Harper and lived her first years in Australia, returning to Britain at the age of seven when her parents gave up on emigration. She studied languages at Durham University and made her career in government service, with periods spent working in the US. Anne is married with two sons and lives in Edinburgh.
